Yeah I like that, that's where a reduction to 24 hours on helpers list might really help. Can genuinely return a favour, without the risk of haunting for 2 weeks.

Maybe I have a good memory but I remember back 140 levels or so ago, when my RSS stand was unlocked, being surprised at the items being mysteriously bought. It is partly why I have played so long. I remember selling eggs and wheat for many different prices and it all got sold. I figured out the ad stuff and how to tell what was being advertised to get it all sold. For months, I would fill it up before bed and it was all gone by morning. Later, I figured out how to friend people in GC and loved seeing the same friendly photos returning to my shop over and over. I came to my nh by a GC friend I first saw all the time in my DD, when hay day was not the powerhouse it is today.
Yes, you can view the world outside of yourself as either a place full of friends you haven't met yet or people out to use you and take from you. I simply prefer the worldview that the vast majority of people are good people and that their intentions are basically good. So, they are as welcome to what is there as any GC or Facebook friend. Oh, and yes, I completely know that when I put anything up for sale I lose all attachment to it, especially any emotional attachment. Do things get swipped? Occasionally, but I don't expect that my RSS should only be open to who I say or that I should control who buys what there. Yes, I know many care a GREAT DEAL about that. But, to assume you know what this person is thinking when they bought your stuff would upset you so much is projection of your motives on them or your view of the world. I assume the person buying it needed it for something and I got what I was asking for. If I wanted more or for it to go to a particular person or to my nh, I do that in chat and we exchange it in a short time frame. The stuff in your barn and silo is safe. In your RSS, anyone can buy it. Private is what is in your barn and silo. Public is your RSS. If you don't want the public to have it, don't put it up in your RSS.
Oh, I mistakenly put an ad on rice this morning on the 8th or 10th box. I came back a half hour later and the person only bought 2 boxes including the one with the ad. Always a nice thing to me!
It is really helpful, in my opinion, to have posts along this vein that explain the different ways people play. In that way, each of us can get some perspective on the matter. Obviously we all play our own little rules. Obviously most of us aren't psychic so we can't guess each other's little rules. We can only follow the golden rule, although even that can't work: I would perhaps suggest that George Bernard Shaw had a point when he said do NOT do unto others as you would have them do unto you - their tastes may differ. It can help to read threads like this, including the original post, if we want to understand the various ways people play and by understanding perhaps reduce our own frustration.
To bluemitten et al: yes, it is a GLOBAL game and some fair points have been made. However, what some players are saying, including the original post, is that the current lack of any control of the RSS is preventing them (us, I include myself) from playing with the global community. Perhaps something could be done by SC to strike a balance between your experiences and the OP experience - maybe we will all be the better off for that balancing.
well said:thumbsup: I have never seen it from anyone else's point of view. Both are valid ways of playing and should be respected. Just because I like to keep my community small doesn't make it right or wrong but just the way I choose to play the game. I like to take part in the global challenges and always exceed the goal so I consider that helping. I don't as a general rule advertise in the DD unless I have a silo load of crops from derby tasks or I need help. In that instance I put a slow selling crop in to keep my advert in the paper. I do not sell what I would call the good stuff to Joe Public but rather save it for my NH who I would call friends after playing with for over a year now. There are 30 of us and we are very active so mostly I don't need to go outside of the NH to progress on my farming. I do buy all my wheat, eggs, indigo, corn from DD as its so readily available - in fact I very rarely find good stuff in the DD! I have never stalked a helper... In fact I never visit them from my help bar as I forget its there! I don't see any chance of interaction with them as you can only join people to your hood if your GC or FB friends. I'm guessing if they put their GC name in the farm name then you could potentially have interaction with them maybe? I had never even thought of buying stuff back to thank them as I have sent them a thank you gift card.
I do respect though that some people choose to go it alone and so depend of the DD and help tab as a way of getting/giving help and buying products. Maybe rather than remove it, a reduction on time your name stays there would be a compromise for both types of players.
The worse offenders of RSS stalking..... Greg and Tom! Left some min price expansion there the other day ( a little gift for my NH as they pass) and 1 hour later Greg had swooped in and taken a box of deeds! So much for him buying stuff thats been sitting there for ages! Now I have seen Gregs farm.... Fully expanded the Devil! Who's he buying for I wonder ....
