I stopped helping people in paper.

I have been reading this thread with interest.
i have never really had a problem with so called raiding until last week. I was trying to help a person in my NH by selling LEM cheap to them and someone "swiped" them. They then followed my farm and bought everything I sold so i sold nothing for the whole week. They have now unfollowed me.

i had some choices I could have made. I could have deleted her or I could continue to let her buy everything I sold or do nothing, so I did nothing.

I couldn't careless if so one raids me or swipes a trade or cheap goods meant for someone in my NH. THIS IS THE GAME!!

I try not to raid my GC friends or last helpers or people in the DD but if it is for sale I will buy it if I want it!!!
i do try to stick to biting one or two goods as I feel I have great GC friends and I don not want to upset them.

I love gong back and helping people on the Last Helpers List when I can. It is my way of saying thanks. I probably rarely buy from them. Often I have seen they need help, their shop has or is being cleaned out and all they want is for someone to water their poor little tree or bush so I go and do it for them. I have picked up some lovely followers by doing this.

the point is that there is no such thing as " they bought all my goods I had for sale" in Hay Day. If you don't want people to buy them, simple, don't sell them. Or alternatively sell by unchecking the advertisement button.

i do not always advertise goods for sale and most of my GC friends know as does my NH, drop by and check. You just never know what you might find for sale and please BUY IT. RAID my stall!!! Take everything!!!!!
Good grief that is the point I am selling it so if you want it TAKE it

I have been fooled in to following a farm that had shed loads of expansion items that I had "just missed out on". Weeks later and their rss was set up exactly the same way! I suspect they were "follower gatherers" and I have seen a few farms do this since. Generally high level farms .... Maybe they have nothing else to do apart from see how many followers they can collect :)

I hadn't factored in the whole them using your farm though...... That would be a rather clever way of making sure you have lots of farms to help or pillage when ever you need.

I play solo, but, since I stated that I help people and people help me, that it would be understood that I have followers and I follow people, up to the imposed limit outside of FB and gc. I'm also a nh of 1, and derby every week. I'm in the expert league, been there for 2 months, or so, and I am at level mid 50s.

I pick up followers from people that help me, and I choose whom to follow, all based solely on the dd. I put stuff in my RSS and don't advertise, good stuff, too. Until I need room or need help, that's when I advertise.

I have been watching over the past few days, paying attention to who buys what. It seems that a few of my followers snap up bolts, candles, other premium items. The same people buying really doesn't bother me.

I understand the want to sell specific things to specific people. But it seems silly to get all over rought about the RSS doing what it does, which is sell stuff. IIt's limited in its scope. That's the way it is.

I follow a person, I think they are Russian. I have followed him for a long time, he sells a lot of expansion items, and I buy a lot from him. I buy only what I need because of storage, but I have cleaned him out once or twice, in addition to getting only a few things, once or twice. He hasn't booted me, so, I assume he knows that, since he is 50 levels above me, that I have a lot of land to open. He buys from me, too.

But now I wonder if he sits there, all angry at me, because I buy what he sells, lol.

Awww I wouldn't have thought so as he would have deleted you by now. He's probably very pleased you take them off of him and offer him good stuff in return. Once you have expanded all your farm the LEM materials just clog your barn up and if I didn't have neighbours after them I would advertise them. Im sure the items you sell are equally appreciated

This is a common refrain from folks when these threads pop up. People become afraid to shop, concerned about offending or angering others while playing the game the way it was DESIGNED. :(

My advice: Play your game your way, in the way that makes you happy, and that conforms to the official game rules.

I would not worry about abiding by unofficial player-imposed or forum-made-up rules, UNLESS (1) you know about them and (2) you want to abide by them.

Just play Hay Day the way it was designed, and have fun.

It's nice to respect others -- but the game rules do not REQUIRE it and have not been designed to FACILITATE it. For example: We cannot make our farms private, or limit anyone from buying more than 3 crates per shop visit. We cannot opt out of appearing on the leaderboards, or help without being on a Last Helpers tab.

For better or for worse, without disrespecting or diminishing anyone's opinions or feelings expressed here, this is the way the game was designed. I think we can expect that the basic game mechanics with respect to the shops will not change much.

People across the globe play HD, and the vast majority of them do not know of and/or cannot read these forums. They therefore have no idea about what we have collectively spent 15 forum pages discussing. Those folks don't and can't ever know about "raiding" or trading or gifting -- all forum/Facebook group-made-up activities.

Deciding to honor known shopping wishes of others is the personal choice of each player. I choose to respect wishes when I know about them, but I don't have to if I don't want to. It's what I do because it makes my game more pleasant.

At its heart, Hay Day is a simple and pleasant farming game, now with elements of horse racing. Just play Hay day and have fun!

Hello, VickyD,

I hope so. This thread is the first I have heard about this raiding thing, and I truly hope that I haven't annoyed anyone.

I have a follower that checks on me and waters stuff several times a day, and I do the same for them. We have filled all 3 crates on each others boats before, and I will actually give them things that I wouldn't to someone I am not familiar with, like my last ice cream or 3 jams. I think that he is actually a support farm for his main account, I can't know for sure because we have never spoken.

It's a neat relationship that develops with people when you solely communicate like this. I like this person, based solely on my interactions with him, in this setting.

And my RSS is stocked with good stuff, when I get a new machine, I wear it OUT. And I like the coin from candy bars, and I like knowing that someone I don't know stumbled onto it, whether from the dd or just dropping in. I like it when it happens to me, that YAY I GOT THAT COOL THING THAT NEVER HAPPENS lol.

I had a Russian follower WELL before NHs. I think he LIVED at my farm. He bought every crate of 10 coin wheat I put up for sale, then turned around and put it is HIS shop for 36 coins.

I'd go and buy all my wheat back, put it in my shop for 1 coin, and he'd come buy it all again. Rinse and repeat. :)

I'd put other things in my shop in these wheat exchanges, but he always skipped over those. OK, I thought -- you're a wheat guy. Have more wheat!

I was always happy to see him in my shop, but at the time before NH, I couldn't do anything to reach out to him apart from buying my wheat from his shop and selling it back to him for 1 gold -- LOL.

This went on for several weeks.

One day, he stopped coming around. I went to his farm. The name was changed to "Bye Perky TY $$$". :(

Aren't these gaming relationships interesting?

Hypothetically speaking, if SC decided to relegate the last helpers to friends and followers only in the next update, would anyone really object to that? Think about it, if someone helped u in the DD but u don't have access to go to that person's farm...would it be that big of a deal? U would be grateful that person helped u, u probably wouldn't mind not having access to their shops. Players not helping in the DD as of now would be flocking to the DD to help. Those who need help would be helped, probably at a faster rate. Those who don't want unwanted strangers to drop by would have that peace of mind. All parties involved would be winners. I see no downside to it at all.
