Dark Spell: Curse
I couldn't find anything related to this, so here goes..
I was thinking that since some defenses can be a real PITA to deal with at times, but wouldn't it be fun to turn it against the defender for a short time? The Curse spell would confuse the intelligence that is controlling the targeted defense(s) and make them think that their allies, including structures, are the enemy and vice-versa.
So here's how I see it working (btw..I'm not worried about DE cost, etc. as that's up to the dev's and testers that balance the game mechanics):
It's an area effect of 2 x 2 tiles to target one or more defenses. It would have a fixed duration of between 5-10 seconds (would require testing, but 8 seems like it would work to allow the mortar to fire at least twice), and the level of the spell determines which types of defenses it would be able to affect.
I would imagine that it would be available @ TH 10, and have 3 levels. Here's the breakdown of defenses it could curse by spell level (regardless of defense level):
Level 1 (TH10): Cannons, Archer Towers, and Mortars
Level 2 (TH10): Air Defense (for CC dragons/hounds etc.), Wizard Tower, and Hidden Tesla
Level 3 (TH11): X-bow and Inferno Tower (the Eagle Artillery would not be able to be cursed)
The AoE is small and the duration is short so it would need to be used somewhat strategically, unless the defender has tightly grouped defenses. The cursed defense(s) would see the nearest friendly troops/structures as the enemy and would begin firing upon them for the duration of the spell at which time it would resume normal functionality. The balancing aspect would be that after a defense has been targeted by this spell, it can no longer be affected by the curse as it will have developed an "immunity" once the illusion has faded.

if you drop enough of these on a base's core, it would be automatic one star.

With such a short duration, and only being able to affect any defense only once (as written) I do not believe that would be the case. The nearest structure would not necessarily be the TH, but I suppose another spell stipulation could be that cursed defenses do not target the TH. Pretty easy solution to avoid the cheese.
