Opponents spying during clan wars

This may not be so common but quite often we fear to accept any new members in our clan during wars just to make sure no one comes to screenshot our war villages to uncover hidden giant bombs and teslas.

I would like to suggest to reveal hidden traps only to players that are participating in wars, and no one else.

I think it's an easy modification and i dont think anyone would mind it. It only makes the war more fair and we will be able to accept players without worrying about this.

Just close the recruitment when in a CW, if no one's able to apply for your clan you won't have to worry about accepting the wrong person. It's not like there won't be other that want to join your clan, and if a person really is interested in joining your clan he will come back when the recruitment is opened.

A few things you can do though:

1) You could also make a screenshot of the full memberlist when being matched with an opponant. Most of the time they send a unselected player to check out your bases. In rare occassions they use an account outside of their clan so there's no way you can make the connection with their team.

2) Change your clan's location to a certain country, in my case we're primarily a Dutch clan, so when someone none-dutch applies for our clan we alreadt know it smells fishy. Who would want to join a clan when you don't know their language right? This is a great indicator for spies.

In the end i think it's greed that gives spies the oppertunity to enter your clan. Recruitment should be picky and you shouldn't just let anyone in. I don't think it's a solution to change the responsibility to the game developers to prevent spies from entering your clan while you're able to avoid it through proper clan management.

What you suggested is what we are currently doing. We close the clan, we reject anyone that seems fishy to us, anyone that does not speak the same language. But this way, we may reject potential players just because we dont feel sure about the player. We have war after war, so according to your suggestion, we should close the clan for good. Screenshot of the clan may be done by one person, however accepting players is done by any elder and above.

We are picky about who gets in but that doesnt necessarily mean we can stop spies from coming in.

I'm in the same boat as you mate, i also have my own clan, we also do constant clanwar. But we close the recruitment at the end of the preparationphase, before that time people can still enter and we can still change bases in case it's needed.

we've had many cases of spies in our clan, and funny enough it doesn't matter. We 3 Star almost every base and have a current average of 29/30 stars when doing 10v10. So it really doesnt matter if they get to see our traps as most clans in the 10v10 - 15v15 matchmaking are still stuck on gowipe only raids. Even with knowledge of traps a gowipe won't 3star a base. Most of the time the spy compliments us on the performance and leaves after the CW, so when your clan knows how to perform a spy won't make the difference for them imo.

However, i don't know how you've organised your clan's aristocracy but in my clan only the co's are allowed to accept or decline applicants. We have only a few elders and those people got the right as an acknowledgement for their performances, obedience and mature behavior. Not meeting one of those criteria (obedience), not performing as expected (forgetting to attacks) or breaking one of the rules (behavior) will result in losing all privileges untill they've proven they can handle the responsibilities.

This might sounds like a dictatorship, but my members respect the leaderboard and respect the rules and decisions we make. This is how my clan does not suffer from spies and other threats from outside the clan. No one leaves or hops out of the clan, no one disobeys the rules and clanwar planning, and no one is accepting applicants without my permission. This way there's only 1 person to blame when it turns out to be a spy, and as the leader no one will argue with my decision. This also avoids conflict between members as they won't be able to point fingers to eachother.

But back to the spy & recruitment thing,
This is just my opinion, but i think you're prioritising things the wrong way.
Any applicant hassn't proven their value yet so you shouldn't risk what you already have (team & cw) for a player you don't know yet. For him 10 others and if they really want to join your clan they will come back on another time. I've had players trying to get in for months but always applying the wrong time, so being rejected. eventually they've been accepted as they have applied between CW's. But the funny thing was they kept trying.

It's a gamble, and as a leader you should gamble at your risk.
But if you think that leaked information could compromise the clanwar you shouldn't let anyone in. If your clan consists of 3 star experts you shouldn't worry too much about spies ;)

That's no unicum, and with proper base design spamming hogs never works out. Spamming hogs is a TH8 or lower issue tbh.

A standard answer, it is so annoying to have to do it that way. It is what we do usually, is tedious, prevents known people from joining, is extremely bad if you war a lot.

Not rare at all. Only the incompetent, or people doing it as a open joke, use a clam member to go across to spy.
(I do it occasionally. Not for the tactical advantage, it is surprisingly difficult to get someone else to follow an attack strategy fine detail, even on the rare occasion that it is not obvious where the traps are. With so many spare attacks, probing attacks do the same job. No, I do it because it because listening to the enemy chat can be surprisingly funny)

We are country specific, people don't seem to care that much when requesting to join, only time zone is important. Language is important, but no, I am not going to change the clan description to another language just for this little anti-spy game.

If you're too stubborn to use small adaptations to prevent spies from entering your clan it's all on you mate. Don't you think it's a bit stupid to refuse small methods to minimalize the damage and demand a bigger solution at the same time? Lets all stop brushing our teeth, there's no point in brushing if we all can take a new prosthetic denture in 10-20 years right?

But ahwell, if you refuse help you can deal with your problem yourself ;) So goodluck with that.

I agree with the earlier statements about how ... "It's not the developers problem to prevent spies, it's the Clans problem!"

Plus, Spies are fun! They add DRAMA! The enemy can "sneak" into your clan and SPY. Plus, YOU CAN TOO!

In our clan, sometimes, energetic Chiefs try and go SPY, but we don't promote that behavior.

All this Spy talk is a non-sequitur. Chiefs can Spy, so Spy's are bad! Nope, it doesn't make sense.

The real problem is cheeting. Stop the cheeting Supercell, or match cheeting clans with cheeting clans. The cheeting is a much bigger problem, and Supercell simply needs to enforce their TOS!!

BTW, if you are wondering why I mis-spelled CHEETING, it's because Supercell has a filter on posts and they replaced CHEETING with ♥♥♥♥♥ING. Supercell, is that your solution? Bury you head in the sand? If I can't see you, you aren't there?

A good clan, which is also serious about war, would have this covered easily. If your clan has people accepting invites during wars you need to demote them to prevent them from accepting.
