Does the Rope Fence increase with each purchase? I don't want to buy even one if the price is going to go up each time.
The price does go up after each purchase:unsure:
By 100 coins each purchase
Thanks. What a ripoff.
It is normal in Hay Day for the coin decorations to increase in price, and let's face it, coins are easy enough to accumulate, so why not add a little surcharge? 100 coins per post is very reasonable and moderate.
In fact, I think the entire pricing system for this round of decorations was spot on. We got the three different types of payment (diamonds, coins, and vouchers) and none of them are particularly exorbitant. For people who like to splurge, you can get some really nice decorations for your bucks, and for those who like to save and buy over time, something very nice to work towards.
Best thing about this update, in my opinion. No complaints here.
I buy decos like this when I am feeling good about the game. These days, I am not very happy. I think the new decos are rather blah, the edit mode does not work, and I don't care about boats. What else was there in this latest update? O ya, Christmas is almost gone. I think I'm worn out from begging the developers to come clean about the town tools. It is exhausting to talk to people who speak in circles.
I have no need to store tems - I only go to the town on my main farm to check the sea chests. It's hard enough storing bems and sems, without adding tems to the mix. Also, my baby farm isn't a "feeder farm", it's a farm in its own right, just without a town, so, no new deco.
As long as youre Chinese the new props are neat. Boo
Huh. Not really. There are 6 new decos: 3 unlock with XP level and 3 with town reputation level. They're as follows:
XP level: Lucky Cat, Rope Fence, Bonsai Tree.
Town rep level: Stone Lantern, Big Gate, Bamboo Fountain.
It had been a while since we last added Town decos, so we decided to split them up this time. And they're relatively low rep levels (3 and 5) so no one would have to wait too long leveling up their town.
Cheers,
Cami
Thank you, Cami, for coming on to give more details!:caticon:
I love the new Decos, and as Pitchfork was saying, it's wonderful that we can use vouchers, coins and diamonds to buy them. Thank you!
This is a fun, and surprising update. Thank you for the love, play and hard work you, and your compatriots, have put into this!
You are treasured, loved and greatly appreciated!:caticon::heart::heart::heart:
I wish the gold path didn't go up so much each time. Im up to 25k a piece and I think it goes up 250 a time. It would be nice to have a cap on the price of paths.
I know it's the norm. And it's not just fences. I want to know why Supercell feels the need to increase things in this manner. When we are buying with coins it doesn't affect Supercell's bottom line, does it? Your revenue does not increase when I buy an additional whatnot, does it?
For me, it doesn't control my spending so much as gives me something to spend the coins on! I like the fact that I have to earn coins to be able to spend as I like. In earlier levels it is a bit frustrating as the coins are more precious, but then we always have the choice to farm hard and be patient, or treat ourselves to a bag of coins, so these decs are never out of our reach, and always within our own control. :)
Best of all, it gives something to aim for. When I began, I looked forward to the day when I could buy as many paths/ponds/flowers as I wanted. And I got there much faster than I'd thought I would.
It is all pretty cool by me.
So what? Sell a few things.
My mistake, Cami. Thanks for the clarification. It will be a long time before I can afford the cat or cherry tree on the baby farm, but at least I can enjoy my "new and improved" zen garden on my main farm.

Am nt complaining but the pricing of certain things makes me laugh while comparing it to rl. Cost of a brick wall is very cheaper than that of rope fence ♥♥♥♥!
I have thoughts They might be valid or they may just be me "blowing smoke"
decorations are simply a sink whether it's a gold sink or a voucher sink or a diamond sink they are a way to remove currency from the game. and the farmer from the entitled generation that is jealous of the pixels some other farm has might even be inclined to spend more money to get more currency so as to keep up with the Jones Farm. I see nothing wrong with the amount charged for decorations if that is a farmers priority they will invest in decorations, if bigger barn or silo is their priority they will invest in those. if max slots on machines is the priority they will invest in those. if a full fishing book is the priority they will use all their vouchers over there.
That is the benefit of hay day there are a multitude of ways to waste time (because really it's still a game, a glorified waste of time) I for one think Hay Day is the best mobile waste of time available to date. I've tried several games and most last for 2-3 months at most. Hay Day has never left my phone since the day I installed it 3 years ago. and nothing else comes close to it. So if you don't like the new stuff that has been added ignore them. enjoy the old stuff that has kept you here since you found the game. if you liked the game last month there was nothing added in this update which changed any of the mechanics of the game so you should still be happy. If you like the decorations you have something new to strive for. if the editing is your cup of tea, sweet, I'd probably give it a couple weeks for additional bugs to be worked out. Assuming it's the same program the engineers have been using to decorate Greg's farm keep in mind they have been using it for 4 years and have gotten used to all the quirks. general public never uses tools the way that Engineers do. (It's something about usability) so players are going to try weird things and notice stuff. there will probably be a few updates to correct the quirks so players can either be bug squashers that find the glitches and report them. or they can be the patient ones that don't deal with the headaches, but also don't play with the new toy till it's version 3.0 rather than 0.9b.
Anywho new deco looks cute. Glademaid has a great garden. I look forward to seeing what others do. and have a great day.
I'm still wondering why the cost increases.
Do voucher decos increase with each additional purchase?
Diamond decos?
edit: err....never mind...don't need the heat :smirk:XD
I've never seen decos that cost vouchers increase in price, but some diamond decos do...wrought iron fence, ditches, dirt pathways.
We can all see you want to know the reasoning behind SC's decision to increase the cost of certain decorations that cost coins, but IMO, the constant asking is getting old. It was a decision SC made when they began the game and it's continued with certain decos as they introduce them. It's their game, it's the way they want to do this, and if we don't like it, we can choose not to purchase those particular decos or discontinue playing this game.
I'm sure there are things in your life that you like to do a certain way, and you have been doing it that way for ages and it works for you. If someone came along and questioned why you do that and kept pushing you about it and hoped, maybe even expected, that you would change the way you do things to the way they thought you should do them, I'm sure it would irritate you that they even broached the subject...I know it would bother me.
Thanks, TrickyTrax, I've had a zen garden for ages, and am really thrilled that it looks so much more zen now.
HS- is all the zen having the desired effect then?
As as for the rising costs - it's the way it's always been, every fence and path has always cost more with each purchase. A sad fact of life we just have to accept and work with. *soooo zen these days* :caticon::caticon::caticon:
Yes, I've been meditating with Grandmaster Wu underneath the Big Red Gate by the waterfall for days now. "Be like water", he tells me..."but first u must learn the rules so u know how to break them properly".
Nirvana will be reached by next Wednesday so must not give in to temptation XD
As to the question of why, those who chimed in seem to be all correct.
Quick game design 101:
In game design, there is a concept called inflation. As players advance in the game, their means of accumulating currency increase. In Hay Day, the prices of the buildings go up because of this. But with decos, we prefer to keep them all relatively affordable, regardless of in which level they unlock. But they still need to be able to remove significant amounts of currency from the economy, which is why they increase in price per unit purchased. So initially they might be a breeze, but as you accumulate them (if you so wish) they become more effective in balancing out the surplus in the economy.
You may read more about Inflation here: http://gamebalanceconcepts.wordpress.com/ (Do a search for "inflation", as there's lots of other things in there). It's also a good resource for learning more about game balance in general, if you're into that. :)
Cheers,
Cami
Hey knitgal2,
Do you mean the Ditches, Trails (8 diamonds each, initially) and the Cemetery Fence from Halloween(5 diamonds, initially)? Are those increasing in diamond price for you? No diamond decos (regular or fence) should increase in price. I'm checking in the internal test build and those decos aren't increasing in price for me. Could you please confirm this for me so that I can take it up to our QA? There might be something weird going on.
Cheers,
Cami
Cami, I've never purchased these items because you need more than just one to create the look you would want, so I have no first-hand knowledge of the price increasing (wanted to hoard my diamonds for hiring Tom). I could swear (I know, I know...shouldn't swear :p) I read in the forums that those who had decorated with them saw the price increase with each subsequent purchase, and it was when the "Cemetery Fence" was first introduced, which was originally 2 diamonds, I thought, but was increased to 5 diamonds last Halloween for the initial purchase. So, essentially, this is something that I'm pretty sure I heard a few years ago.
Well, I just tried to search for posts about the cost of the fencing increasing with each purchase, and I came up pretty empty. That's not to say these posts aren't out there, just that I didn't find them (or maybe didn't find them because I remembered wrong :p).
So, sorry if I provided incorrect information. I was pretty darn sure I was right, or I wouldn't have said anything. *shlumps back into her corner*
So, only coin decos increase as you go. This is to 'keep there from being too much money in the game.'
I would much prefer that many, many more different decos were available! Make more cute items, charge a hefty coin price, don't increase the cost as they are sold, but just have many, many more choices! I would spend one million coins this afternoon on new coin decos. I will not get conned into paying more more more more for the same one. (at least, I won't again)
I suppose it depends on if you think the deco as a whole is worth the coins. Whether that be one gold statue at a million coins or a long gold path costing a million. Personally I'm not too fussed as its a virtual currency. It didn't cost me anything other than my time. I just produce a few more products to sell when I get the urge to purchase more sparkly path.
Thank you Cami for sharing the fascinating insight into game design and the removal of currency from the game economy.
I see dynamic pricing is being applied because the prices of buildings increase as we advance in HD.
I'm a level 103 farmer. Let us assume that I have accumulated about 5 million coins. Where would you place me in the Bell Curve of high level farmers? In the far left? Middle? Far right?
If you introduce a new machine accessible to farmers of all levels, have you considered applying dynamic pricing in the following scenario?
Level 20 farmers and below would pay 20,000 coins for it;
Level 21-40 farmers would pay 40,000;
Level 41-60 would pay 100,000;
Level 61-99 would pay 500,000;
Level 100 and above would pay 1 million coins.
Different strokes for different folks. I bought about 7 rope fences at the reasonable average price of 2000 coins. If each were priced the hefty price of 10,000 coins each, I would've rolled my eyes and not bought them.
Increasing the cost of the same item isn't an issue for me because the increase is very marginal. :)
I just always decorated as I could within my budget and held off buying the more expensive stuff until I had more coins to spend. You'll get there. Just keep making and selling stuff. :) One day you will be Hay Day rich and you will be able to go on a spending spree in the decos tab. ;)
Yes, this is excellent advice!
I started out just decorating with fruit trees and bushes. It's served me very well, as I have a lovely flowering/ colorful fruiting natural landscape that I love very much. I never run out of fruit, either!:caticon:
The problem with this is, it makes is really damn hard for lower level players to decorate a pretty farm.
I've started doing decorating and have been forced to stop. Why should something that gives me no financial gain in the game eventually bleed me dry more than a machine that gives financial gain?
I love the game, but decorating is a horrible experience as a lower level struggling for coins because of this formula.
I don't know why it is a hardship to not be able to do everything all at once. That's not my experience at all! Horrible experience?!?! ??? Everything about my farm was a lovely experience.
Do you also think we should have all machines at level one? What is the the point of a game if it has nothing to aim for?
Really puzzled by this thread.:smirk:
Like AsYouWish, I used fruit trees for decoration, which are beautiful. I still use them.
Like ILoveHayDay, I just enjoyed the game for what it was, and if anyone is feeling frustrated by not being able to afford all decorations yet, take her good advice:
I suppose the answer is for all the coin-laden folks to give them to the poor. The game can't stop you from doing that. Re-distribute the wealth. Put all that coin back into the game. See what happens to SC's plan after that.
pffft. Nothing will happen because this is all hogwash.
The rope fences start at 1000 coins, not 2000, and increase in price by 100 coins each subsequent purchase. SC is not "taking [y]our coins" so that you "can't get the machines." If you choose to buy decorations and then don't have what is needed for the next machine you unlock, that is your choice. If you buy your machine first and maybe a few decorations that you may be able to afford afterward, then that may be a better choice for your game play.
Bottom line - it's all a choice and the choice is yours.
You make no sense. I wasn't trying to talk her out of anything. Just indicating it's a choice for a player to spend their coins as they wish, not something SC is intentionally doing to them to sabotage their play. If one chooses to spend money on décor and then not have enough for a machine, then they made a choice how to spend their money.
Please don't twist my words around. I made myself quite clear and I'm sure no one else saw it as you did.
Indeed, when I started playing and struggled to earn coins, I saw two paths: focus on buying machines or get distracted by the lure of decorations. Sometimes I strayed off the path by the pretty decorations but eventually I get back on the path of grinding out coins.
Now I have enough coins to buy unlimited decorations but I bought only enough to make me happy. :)
A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because it has a song.
Ooooommmmm....
Her point of view is that SC is intentionally doing something to sabotage play. SC has already admitted that they intentionally price decos in a manner designed to manipulate the cash in the game. Your indications about choices don't really even speak to the point she was making. I didn't twist your words; you are simply not reading/understanding mine.
