I have to tell you I'm not missing them at all. Wheat is flying off my shelf like crazy!
Yes it throws them off for while :)
Good riddance! Not missing them at all :smirk:
It is absolutely the best. This is what the DD could be like all the time if it weren't for those automated harvesters. Punks!:p:smirk:
Tiaxotrax, is this what usually happens after every update. I was hoping SC had found a powerful new solution to the problem, but it could be a matter of the bots not updating yet? :( Well, I guess I'll enjoy it while I can. Thanks for the heads up about this possibly being a temporary state of affairs.
Am I right in thinking that as well as clogging up the DD with wheat they also swipe all the LEM, SEM & BEM before we get a look in? I know they closed that refresh loop hole in the DD but wasn't sure if the bots still swipe from it
It does give a much better understanding of the bot problem.
It definitely does put a new perspective on how many might be out there. I've found more bem, sem, lem today as well....feel like I'm rolling in the dough!

I'm so loving it! :o
I don't know how they could swipe up specific items up faster than it appears on an ad....but the shear number of wheat ads going up would out number the few bem sem lem ads going up. to the point that it's a drop of water in the ocean.
Here's a thought. supercell could do a maintenance that would require downloading a new version of hayday. before they do the maintenance. look at all the farms that are wheating and doing ads every 5 mins on the dot. (I can't think there would be many players that could maintain doing the same task every 5 mins for hours upon hours days upon days. but to be fair I'm sure somewhere someone has no life.) anywho. take all the farms that are selling and advertising every 5 minutes. do the update and then compare to all the farms that are suddednly NOT selling every 5 minutes. log the IP addresses and flag them put an RSS ban on all the possible offenders. (bots will make new farms, real players will complain and get reinstated.) but of the bots that make new farms SC will have the IP addresses and assuming they are running from a computer that IP address is not likely to change. so those farms should ping the radar quickly. at which point they can be shut down even quicker. each time the botters started a new round they'd only be digging themselves in deeper. Basicly, SC would be giving them enough rope not only to hang themselves but to hang the entire hydra every single head at one time. It would be somewhat slow as I'm sure SC wouldn't want to be updating the build just to catch bots they would want to coordinate new features as well. so it would take time to phase them all out. and i'm sure you'd never get every single one after all bots are a plague on popular gaming. it's almost a sign of how good your game is that people put that much effort into circumventing the rules. and no matter how much SC improves the bots would probably improve as well.
Sorry got off on a tangent.
anyway after a few updates (probably 3) then SC would be able to start detecting a distinct pattern and know where to start blocking access from. after all if the bots are selling 20k wheat a day and a drop happens every 72 wheat or less depending on level. they have to be producing at least 250 various BEM SEM LEM MEM axes saws every day multiplied by each wheat selling bot. those items have to go somewhere so SC would be able to track down kingpin accounts and shut those down as well. Thus taking out the websites that are profiting off SC's hard work as well as the bots that are plaguing the day to day play of real players.
Oh the reasoning for why they'd look at the last hour or so of activity before the update was pushed out and then the activity after the update is because if a player was manually doing the advertising he or she would quickly grab the update, and go right back to wheating again and so would most likely continue with a minimal down time assuming he or she was doing it by had and staring at the screen swiiiiiiipe harvest, swiiiippe plant tap sell tap sell tap sell.......swipe harvest swipe plant and so on. where as the bot would be stuck till it's owner got the new version, then figured out how to get it setup, then turned it back on set the cruise control to maximum.
Bot developers are probably going to work all night today to code their bot apps from scratch compatible for the latest update.
It must be that their bots became obsolete after the update. XD
Fearful players can finally breathe a sigh of relief...until the next wave of bots decide to show up. Then the hysteria begins.
If updates can get rid of bots temporarily like this...why not combat bots by giving us an update every couple of weeks? :D Pipe dream...but something to ponder about.
Updates also tend to bring a lot of the casual and temporarily inactive players back into the game.
Just on the back of seeing an app update for Hay Day so get they are curious to see what's changed.
It's really hard buying the good stuff from the paper at the moment with more active players going around.
you can see more bem or sem in d.d , but it is actually diffcult to buy this item after update, it is not the good things, some player will see this situation in the future, then they will complain this.
Wheat is selling very quickly, don't know how long it will last.
Usually after an update the DD doesn't change that much.
Yes, I was wondering why all my wheat sold quickly today. Didn't think about it until I saw this thread.
Wheat actually sold very quickly when the game first came out.
I don't bother flipping pages or scrolling inside shops anymore.:saywhat::saywhat:
It is definitely NOT NORMAL!
I just took a look and was able to find the items from the newspaper in the RSS. Even a couple of bolts! :D
Cheers,
Nick
I can't even get items in time... I am as quick as a person could possibly be and the item is sold when I get there.
No bots = less wheat and more production items in paper. Also more shoppers as browsing the paper seems worthwhile. Temporary probably, but very welcome.
Resurgance of farmers interested in the update = more sellers and shoppers (presumably heavier on the shoppers side as I believe people tend to buy more than they sell).
24-hour visitor event = more shoppers. Always a lot more shoppers.
End result = varied selection but quick fingers are needed to purchase anything, even typically over-supplied items.
If by 'not normal' you mean different than yesterday, you're right. But it is a normal reaction to what's happened in the last 24-hours. I doubt it will last though. Unless Supercell changes the way they address them, bots will return. And most of the farmers popping in to see what the update brought will fade as whatever took them away from Hay Day in the first place (whether in-game or real life) is probably still around. As for the event, it'll be over with tomorrow and a day after that the effects of it wil have disappeared too.
I'm enjoying it while it lasts.
DD is absolutely useless and a waste of time at the moment if you go after ads. (NO it was like that before the event too).
Even carrot, sugarcane, soybean advertisements have empty shops in a split second. Hamburger, muffin, bacon&eggs and all the other junk food is selling like crazy.
If you think lack of bots and more temporary activity did that, you are missing some facts and experience.
My speculation over the current state of DD:
Supercell sends BEM and RARE item advertisements to all active shoppers at a insanely high frequency.
This is what happens if you send out advertisements for 80% of the community, for items that has <1% share in the supply.
Imagine having every new newspaper for all the available players has multiple BEM ads.
That's what's happening in a smaller scale.
Don't waste your time by flipping pages, just load ads one by one to see what's behind the ad.
I suggest not opening semi-interesting ads as they are send out to a big crowd, and uninteresting ads are distributed to a big pool of players.
Too many people whined about: too many bacon and eggs, then too many chaps, then too many maps, then too many red hats, too many tofu dogs, then too many brick, and always too many wheat. This is what happens if you demand to see more good stuff on DD. You just see it being bought by someone else...
At least smart shoppers will adapt in a day or two for any shopping system. :smirk:
If only the DD was like this all the time. Huge range of items to buy instead of the usual wheat, wheat & wheat. Selling super fast though. I have spotted a bot farm already so enjoying it while it lasts
It will be interesting to study data about how much advertising are send to DD daily (or hourly) before the update when (automatic) wheaters were present and now when they are behind the update.
In which extent our manual ads are diluted in the massa of automatic ones, that will be interesting to know!
The little visitors event has always been a killer for the DD. Add to the fact that resurgent players are back for the update, we have more competition in the paper. I've always been a speed shopper so my shopping style is somewhat adapted to the current pace. I'm now only able to click on one or 2 ads for stuff and the rest of the other ads will most likely be greyed out by the time I get there, so it is a bit frustrating. But rest assured, once the allure of the update wanes, those players will fade into the background and the DD will become better. Better as in easier to shop (less competition), no guarantees if goodies will be there, given some of these ads are from resurgent players. Give it a couple more days.
Wheating is back. I read your original post and tried it for an hour with no wheat backing up. Thanks for the post.
I've been trying to find a positive in the new DD algorithm and here it is.
Shopping is always crazy fast during a Visitor Event.
Should go back to normal tomorrow.
With the bots gone, dd gets an uplift. Last time i had a baby farm around the update and i bought a lot of extension materials from DD.
The new update brings some player back to Hay Day, and with the visitor even on dd is getting competitive but not impossible. I have picked up lots of goodies since morning.
Wheat generally flies of fast after the update because the bots are gone temporarily, plus with the visitor event on there might be other farms like me with big silo's who collect wheat to sell to the visitors.
I usually do a lot of wheating but since the update I have less time for it because I'm busy redecorating. I suspect other wheaters are doing the same.
May as well delete my mail box, can't buy a damn thing.
Guess I will just grow just one crop like everyone else. Who needs all those other crops and machines anyway hey?
When I started this game 2.5 years ago, you could plant and harvest wheat as fast as possible because it would actually sell in the paper. Over the last year or do, the market has been flooded and when you try to do this, it simply doesn't sell even for a dollar.
After this update, you can't get it up fast enough. Just try it.
The obvious benefit is for every 77 wheats you harvest you get a reward.
Now, the silo doesn't fill up and you can just keep selling. Now, I'm selling mine for one buck.
I have never seen the dd so full of awesome products! It's too bad it all seems to be scooped up before I get there though ......:(
DD is practically useless for me. I cant even buy eggs there.

As one of those farms that suffered through a temporary ban during the bot sweep last year, I admit as I saw the DD slowly being taken over by the bots that I feared another forced vacation from HD was approaching :(
I'm both relieved and thrilled that SC found a way to rid the bots (even temporarily) without a wide sweeping ban that catches some innocent players! :) Thank you!!!
I find buying in the dd depends on wheat time you do it. During the night US time seems the best time to get good deals.
Yes, other things are flying off the shelves as well. I've found the best way is to flip though quickly hoping to find one primo item I want like bolts and click it quickly sometimes I actually get it, then after that I randomly just click ads to see what else they have up and a lot of times I get lucky. Bacon and milk are torturous to keep in stock.
