Agreed. It is certainly ridiculous from the player's point of view. According to Cami, a developer, the town tool drop rates were purposefully dropped in November. She stated the reason as something about the game was about to have too many tools and they were going to flood the newspaper like maps did some time ago.Quote:

The reason maps flooded the newspaper is because there was an illegal script in use by dishonest players. Supercell was unable to control the use of that script. Their feeble response was to decimate the drop rate of maps, which is why eventually there were no maps anywhere. Finally they fixed the map drop rate.
Now, every time anyone mentions town tools, the Supercell employees hark back to "mapgate," pretending that they do these tool cutbacks for the good of the community.
