How would you attack this base?
Mass hogs or throw a Golem in the mix?
I am thinking of mass hogs from South East.
I have level 4 hogs and level 2 golems

Hogs (surgical) for certain. I wouldn't start in SE though, I'd likely start at ~2:00. Best natural place for a heal for main group
thanks ... good idea
Any concerns about the hog packs tracking over potential Double Giant Bomb spots either side of Town Hall?
Or maybe even GoVaLo?
Yeah. I would be scared of mass hogs here. GDBs could ruin you.
How would you avoid them?
Not at all. DGBs don't scare me, especially at TH8, seriously. This isn't to say that I'm some God with hogs, just more the power of the surgical attack, which is a lot of fun (at least, to me it is).
Rarely will DGB ruin a surgical hog run. The hogs are just to spread out. This isn't to say that, by accident, your hogs will group and you'll get significantly hit, but that's rare.
Far too often, people see a base like this and hogs scare them off. Why? Because it might have a DGB? Further, who cares if it does? Most the time, DGB don't fire correctly anyways, to say nothing about what I said above.
Do what I said above. A nice group of, say, 15-17 hogs into ~2:00 with a heal, then surgical around the base. I might consider some, "cut" hogs for that main group to go into the core, but, otherwise, a fairly straight-forward surgical hog will roll it. Don't forget to use BK as a distraction. Unfortunately, it appears that the best place to use him is where the enemy BK is, which doesn't get a lot of defenses, but might as well.
With as ANNOYING as hog AI is (i.e. they ignore the BK when it's beating on them, even after all defenses are down...), might as well get that threat out of the way.
Excellent lunatic. .. will attack in 6 hours time and let you know how it goes
When you say surgical around base ... do you mean 3 hogs on each remaining point defence. ... following the main pack? Or just choose 1 side?
Well, the way I do it, I don't necessarily/blindly release 3 hogs per defense, but, yes, that's fairly common.
Here, I'd likely start with 3 hogs on the AT at 12:00, the CC hogs plus ~10 hogs into the defenses at ~2:00 (then heal asap). Then start surgical, probably going clockwise because I'm right handed and it's easier for me... :) 3 into the AT, drop BK to distract, then 3 per defense remaining on that side. Note that you may have to pause hog release if your BK starts getting too trashed (which, he ultimately will engaging the enemy BK).
Then, probably 5 into AT and cannon at ~9:00, heal, then 3 into each WT. Extra hog to play with (assuming, at most, 1 hog to pull CC), as well as extra heal. Make sure you cover a bunch of defenses as you heal.
Something like that...
Thanks for this.
I three-starred!
He had a max Pekka in the CC which messed with the plan a little (doensn't die with 2 poison). But I had enough hogs to kill the Pekka and the BK at the end. My BK went the wrong way so didn't engage the enemy BK.
Also took a few wiz for clean-up. There was a lot of clean-up spread around the place.
thanks
Nice!
What levels are your poison?
I've killed Pekkas in CC before with just poison, but, to be honest, I can't recall if they were L5 though... The funny part is, pekkas are just way, way too slow for hogs anyways, as your attack helps prove
This is very weird. I'd have to see where you dropped it in relation to the BK range.
