Having lost 30 minutes of my life on phone to google, they say they are aware of the issue and the google play games app has been rolled back so uninstalling and reinstalling google play games and any games affected should resolve the issue. The engineers have apparently identified the root cause and are working on a proper fix to be updated automatically. If you want a notification on when fixed and stable you have to raise a bug report on google play app itself
I saw a youtube giving reason you can be banned an one was playing multi accts on 1 device. Ive had support help me before with a similar issue to this an they did. Is it really against the rules? Lol, they make it pretty convenient to switch accts an ive never seen any warnings not to do it. They should be happy players using multiple accts. Give them more opportunities to sell gems an it doesn't give an unfair advantage as far as i can tell. Urban myth??? Mythbusters where u at???

i followed this thread and it fixed it for me. I think google play 3.5.17 is the correct version to install and has been working fine for me since yesterday. The only thing I had initial trouble with was I forgot to turn auto updates off on my tablet so it kept updating google play.
