Random thoughts and ponderings by me...

Trying to keep my builders busy got me thinking again some deep and I guess also bit darker thoughts...

This whole thing... It really doesn't matter. It's just a game. Game, I cared about and spent countless hours playing and also posting on the forums. Perhaps I shouldn't even bother trying to make a difference anymore. It is very frustrating to see how the game is evolving into something, that I do not enjoy that much. At the moment, my clan is about the only reason I keep on playing and waiting for the next update. Good thing I learnt the value of the clan with a short visit elsewhere...

No, I'm not quitting. Not as long as the clan stays alive. The forums are also a big part of my daily activity, too, so that's also something I care about. But participating on discussions is also getting the better of me. Many threads I was interested enough to post in them gets closed. Typically while I'm writing a long reply. I think I have lost maybe dozen posts to closed threads so far and that frustrates me even further. Trying to pick the words carefully takes a lot of time and effort from me so seeing my posts go into bitheaven just like that isn't bringing any joy. Sure, I well understand why many of the threads gets closed.

Perhaps that is getting closer to the source of my frustration. The lack of discussing things but instead threads turning into flaming. I don't blame anyone for that and I see it more of a guide for myself to try to make myself even more clear what I am saying.

Or maybe I ought to distance myself more from the forums and just focus on things I enjoy doing...

In the end, I composed a list of changes I would like to see:
#1 Make trophies count (league bonus increase by a lot)
#2 Remove loot bonus for attacking higher TH
#3 Remove loot penalty on revenges

Players can discuss how much they want this or how much that will improve the game till the troops come home. I did type up a nice long reply but it seemed pointless so I deleted it.

Just to clear up some concerns...
The clan that I visited (not giving names) is a good clan with good folks, but it really wasn't my place which I learnt quickly. Going with my guts is how I roll so I had to leave within 24hrs from joining.

...Okay, maybe not all good folks. Anyone, who prefers fluffy and cute dogs over pinchers, must be bit strange...:rolleyes: :p

Totally agree, the main reason i still play is because of the clan i am in.

I wouldn't expect any of the changes people are asking for to happen anytime soon, SC went down in my books when they took away levels and even though a majority of people wanted and still want them back they have refused.

No doubt this update will give us something we have not asked for or wanted and the items that are broken/requested for will be put on hold.... still.

all so true. i would have quit the game ages ago if it wasnt for one of my past clans(4-5 months ago..i think). now im in crucible and its the the same with that..a awesome bunch of people that stop me from clicking delete.

OJM why dont u just take a break enjoy real life for a change...I had the worst day irl yesterday had to stay away from coc nearly all day due to personal issues.I have taken many long breaks from this game neary a month at a time due to once again "IRL" prioritys maybe thats what u need to do not delete it not put storages outside but just move the app to a folder that u never go in or a seperated screen on w/e idevice u play on...I can almost assure you that it will help myself when I took those long breaks i came back refreshed and ready to play again...

Moral of the story its just a game theres so many things we can do outside of the idevice maybe try and find something that will occupy your time

The loot bonus/penalty is a crucial part of the game. Or else why bother attacking a th10, they can't just escape being targeted. Also if you aren't premature then the loot bonus is very fair. Why shouldn't a th7/8 get a bonus for attacking people with much better and scary walls, much better defences and xbows and inferno towers.

AGREE. Loot bonus is justified because you should get more for attacking someone with better defenses.

CoC is the break from RL, which hasn't been all joy for years by now. The forums is a place for me ponder out loud about topics related to the forum and CoC. And the people in the clan are my buddies to chat with.

Defiantly understand about coc being the break from RL but theres a line a person needs to draw or the game will consume you.

Trust me my home life isnt the best...but hell going outside just to chill or even taking a walk for 5 minutes can give u somewhat a better relaxation period.

And about the clan i totally understand ive been top donater in my clan going on about 2-3 months been in it going on about 6 i know just about where everyone is from and have built that freindship bond with nearly all my clannies...but once again if ur to the point where quitting crosses your mind just drop the game for a bit or just get on to collect,check,and donate and log back off

Because a person with much better defences earned them. Along with the defenses they should also earn the right to be comfortable with their impregnable fortresses.

The penalty makes sense, but not as implemented. If SC is going to impose a penalty they need to open another avenue for obtaining loot. They as of yet have refused to do that. In addition the penalty doesn't scale properly with respect to the difficulty, time, and cost of attacking higher THs. Are you telling me it is twice as easy to attack a TH8 at TH10 than at TH9? Remember all of those defenses are meaningless when attacking, which is what people spend most of their time in the game doing.

The bonus does not make sense in any context. It erodes any advantage gained by actually putting in the time or money, as the case may be, for upgrading your base. What purpose does it serve? Lower level THs have plenty of loot rich targets to choose from and the penalty already ensures that higher levels don't get much loot from them. Why do they need encouragement or reward for attacking higher level targets?

Obtaining loot and upgrading structures is supposed to be fun. It's part of the game's reward mechanism. Eroding that is like playing an RPG that penalizes you for leveling up. It detracts from the fun. Every single TH upgrade after 7 erodes your ability to further progress. At TH10 it is all but impossible for most to gain tons of enjoyment from upgrading their base any further (level 11 walls for example).

Furthermore I believe the penalty should be removed on revenge. It's quid pro quo. The penalty keeps me from attacking you. If you choose to attack me, I should get to bring all of my advanced troops to bear on you and profit from doing so. I earned that right.

Sure, I got tons of other things I can do, but that doesn't take away the frustration from what I perceive being off in CoC. I still care enough about it to try to change things, same as dahimi is doing. It's easy to quit, just let go and say I don't care anymore, not my problem anymore. But I still feel like this is still worth putting my mind to it and doing something. Many have already quit... some with anger, some with sadness, some with grace. When I put my sword down on this topic, I do it with my own terms, when I feel it is done for. I'm not yet done, just frustrated.

I can understand your frustration. This forum is so different from when i first joined. I would rather forget why I first came to the forum as it was just silly and embarrassing, but i bring it up now to say that if i had just started the game now, and was in that same position, and did everything i did back then...read the forums for a while, work up my nerves, type out my question and hover over the submit button until i finally just tap it and hold my breath...well it would never have happened. I would have gotten through the reading the forums part and that would have been as far as i ever got. Just from my short time here, i have watched this side, (I am also on Hay Day side as well), deteriorate into a mess that i am always nervous to post on.

I am not as knowledgable about this game as so many others, but i am learning...and I have a wonderful family that helps me out as well. I have an opinion on some of these topics, and my own personal observations about things, but i refrain from posting 95% of the time on this side because everyone that is not perfect or doesn't go with the flow of thinking around here gets eaten alive. I have gotten to the point where i hardly even read much of it anymore. Which leads me to you...

in a sea of rudeness and flames and unnecessary taunts and jabs...your posts are intelligent, well thought out, respectful and just a breath of fresh air around here. I can be reading any thread and i will be rolling my eyes and tensing up, and then i see your name and think...okay, finally...a voice of reason. (There are a handful of others that make me feel this way, including you ZachUVA, but this is your thread OJM ;))

I have also typed out some long responses which i have put a lot of thought into and had the thread closed on me as well. It is a terribly frustrating thing and with as much thought as you put into your words, I'd be surprised if you have any hair left at all. ;)

So, my long winded point is...I am glad that you aren't giving up just yet. It is people like you that keep me from walking away from this side of the forum myself. And it may be people like you that make that person on the outside...scared to join and ask their question...feel comfortable enough to go ahead and do so. I am sure that clan you visited was disappointed in losing you so quickly. Thanx for fighting through your frustration and sticking around.

Yea, gonna stick around and post here and there, maybe bit less than used to but anyway. It takes me always so long time to write the stuff so seeing the message vanish does turn some more of my hair grey. But then I take a deep breath and try to settle the situation in my head.

Sometimes I then start a new topic, related to the thread that ate my post if I feel the discussion wasn't yet properly over. I just change it enough to not get closed right away :rolleyes: I understand why many threads do get closed, but it's mostly from flaming, not from being discussed through. Even the tiniest change in the wording can make a big difference on how others read and understand things. I still have to practice a lot more to be more clear what I'm saying and how others read my texts. Can't do much on cases where someone didn't read and still replied, though :rolleyes:
