Hay Day Lotto

Just had an interesting idea pop into my mind, thought I'd post it and see what people think. Wasn't sure if I'd post it here or in Forum Games, although this would have in game implications I'd think.

Kind of like how the Hay Day team do draws for free diamonds on Facebook, maybe we could set up a monthly (?) lotto draw in the forums? The pot to be split would be contributed by each player who wishes to enter, the winnings paid out after the draw? Maybe something like 100 or 1000 gold per ticket, more tickets is a greater chance to win and all that.

I think it could be a fun way to inject some money into circulation, especially if high level people played and a low level person won, it could totally set them up for later, just like the real lotto.

Obviously there'd be some logistics to work out, but I'm more curious as to the response of this initially. Any feedback would be appreciated, but don't be too critical, it's just a fun idea after all. If it doesn't work, oh well, if it does then great.

But given SuperCell have ruled out alcoholic drinks to be introduced in the game I suspect they would rule this out too. As lotto is a form of gambling which like alcohol is typically reserved for persons aged over 16, 18 or where-ever the line is drawn in your home country.

I'm not a big fan of gambling, so I'd not participate in this.

As an upper-level farmer, I prefer the standard ways of getting coinage to cash-strapped lower level players. I especially enjoy helping players learn how to make money for themselves within the game, to become self-sustaining. I don't see how gambling will in any way encourage that - in fact it would tend to mostly impoverish already cash-strapped young farms without encouraging them to grow in healthy ways.

Slow but steady works best in the game, as it does in RL, and I love and applaud SC for making that skill part of the game.

Ahh, but I could totally catch them if they said that. They do random draws on Facebook all the time, just here would be players contributing the prize, not devs. :p

Plus, that was more of an in game feature they ruled out, shouldn't be anything wrong with a harmless little draw here, right? We could even put the whole "18+" thing on it if we wanted. :smirk:

Although this sounds very interesting, and you did say that logistics would have to be figured out, the first thing I thought was all those who were participating would need to put the coins into a "kitty"...but where is that kitty? It would have to be held by one player, I would think, and all participants would need to trust that player not to spend the coins themselves. (More than likely, that person would be trustworthy, but need to play Devil's Advocate in order to think through everything.)

If participants were to "hold" the funds they indicate will be part of this draw, they would need to be trusted to have that amount to transfer if they don't win. (Again, need to play Devil's Advocate.)

Lastly, the only way that I can think of to transfer the funds to the winner is to do the sell-back-and-forth procedure. Is there another way you may have considered?

At the moment, this sounds too complicated to try, but I'm willing to see what others may come up with as to how it could work.

Because this is a family friendly forum, it may not be an appropriate place for gambling. :(

Let alone rules about gambling in different countries.

I don't know if the game would be allowed in The Netherlands....

Right? That's the same thing, almost technically worse since diamonds can cost real money. :smirk: But all the negative comments on here have me regretting posting this, as it would be a game done on the forums mainly, and the forumers seem to almost unanimously dislike the idea.

Hi dear Jerhunter,

Please don't regret posting your idea. You're just experiencing what game devs experience often. My heart goes out to you and devs. Sometimes an idea needs lots of tweaking, or it needs to sit on a shelf for a while, or presented to a different demographic.

Bestajunior and others, while you were away, were sad about the quiescent "Contest" section of the forum. That could be an exciting place for you to design some amazing, fun contests. I would love to encourage you, if you'd like, to experiment and use your great imagination and maybe see if you can design some in-forum contests.
You might come up with some great blockbuster mini-contests:thumbsup::D:caticon:

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement AsYouWish! :thumbsup::D I'd love to help do something like that, I see that section of the forum is quite dead indeed. However, it looks as if diamonds seem to be the prizes and I have no authority to do anything like that, and I'm afraid that section might be mod/staff only. Who could I possibly contact about setting up some contests? Might be a way to spice the forums up a bit and have a bit more fun when not on our farms. :cool:
