Eagle buff to support SC's intention of 'killsquads'
I'm sure that anyone who has faced an Eagle artillery before would know that while it is arguably strong, it did not live up to the way Jonas described it at ClashCon; "spawning killsquads" (hybrid attacks). Because there is no doubt about it that it hasn't. Even after the most recent buff to it, people who are still spamming golems and witches and with some good timing are getting easy 2 stars, sometimes even 3. Sure, there are some attacks here and there where everything goes wrong because the eagle completely wrecks the attacker's golems, but I still feel like more often that not the outcome is a win. I mean, look at drags now at TH11. Most people describe a loss as a 1 star.
The question is, what? How do you "buff" it to add more strategy to TH11 attacks? My suggestion is this: Make the eagle artillery do damage in percentages, similar to the eq spell. This way it becomes deadly towards high hitpoint units, but does little damage to low hitpoint units, and taking it out would be crucial to any attack. Now I know what you're thinking: How? With the current troop and defence levels, surely someone who places their eagle deep inside the core would wake up each morning with multiple defence wins. The answer is killsquads, obviously. If you place it deep inside the core, it leaves less space for other buildings.
Being able to take out the eagle artillery with 150 troop spaces (25 for heroes, 10 for spells and 5 for dark spells) shouldn't be that hard of a feat IF some offensive buffs were added. Smaller troops such as hogs would be extremely helpful. Some buffs which I think would be useful for this include:
20 extra army camp space. Lvl 9 army camps (it will happen sooner or later anyway)
lvl 6 Hogs. Hogs + a golem and the warden and some freezes could actually work quite well
lvl 7 Loons?
extra spell slot?
I put a ? next to some because these would probably require testing to see if they would be needed.
Being able to counter these attacks could bring back new base ideas and overall would add a lot more strategy to th11 attacks.
There are many problems with this idea, and it would definitely require a lot of balancing, but I think this would definitely make the Eagle artillery live up to people's expectations pre-update. Thanks for your time.
