Hey Guys, Just started to play Hay Day... need some help.

So, far all i know is save those diamonds haha~

Please dont give me the link of "New to Hay Day".... just answer my questions in short please

alright, my questions :

1. I haven't connected my account to Google Play Games yet, i just started.... and i have visitors on my farm i am lvl 7....are those visitors bots or online players?

2. The visitors offer different prices for same. things.... how do i understand what the price of some things? (cause am afraid am selling it for a very low price)


3. Why am i not able to visit others in there shop... i am lvl 7 only... is that the reason? do i need to be lvl 18 fr that

4. I am not getting a bolt/screw for increasing my storage... where do i get that? (i got that wood and all)

1. Those animated people who walk up to the farm house? Those are game-generated. Not other human players.

2. Unless there's a special "visitors" event where they pay double coins, you'll always get a better price selling stuff in your RSS. If you want to maximize coinage, sell stuff in your Roadside Shop instead of giving it to the visitors.

3. I don't know. Level 7 was such a long time ago. Do you have access to the newspaper (the Daily Dirt) yet? When you get access to the newspaper, there'll be a bunch of ads, each one is connected to farm. Tap on ad, visit the farm, and shop.

4. There's always one expansion material that each farm tends to be short of. If you read any of the newbie threads, read about wheating. Wheat to get tools and expansion materials. Trade or sell the excess expansion materials you get for the ones you need.

You really should read the "New to Hay Day" link, it has all these answers and more.

And to answer number 3 better, level 8 is required for that.

Jerhunter44 is right. All your questions and more are covered in the threads for new players....and some you have not thought of yet😀😀 Happy farming.

Why tell someone to read the manuel instead of simply answering the questions? Sounds like you are saying "stay off the forum". Personlly, i think it is better to play and discover for oneself. If you have a specific question, ask. Other than that, the fun is in the find. So, my advice is stay away from the tips. Play the way you like.

When they are asking questions already covered, and it's against forum rules (or at least bad etiquette) to make new posts asking stickied questions with answers already included, we tell them to read the manual. Especially for non-advice questions like when is the RSS unlocked, little people, and EM drop rates.

So, this thread is technically against the rules, rule 15 to be exact. Can't dispute a Supercell employee after all.

Read the tips please, they exist for a reason.

Not to mention the fact that it's extremely rude to effectively say 'I can't be bothered to read the information that people have taken the time to complile. Just tell me the bits I feel like knowing today, the next day, the day after...'

The compilation of stickies and rules is great but most members of any forums don't read them

I'm in a rush otherwise I'd find the relevant threads that I'm about to discuss, but they were locked. If I find them and the moderators' posts, I'll link them.

A few weeks ago, a new player came on the forums, asking some questions. And one veteran farmer spent several hours replying but not answering his questions and kind of toying with him. Telling him to google stuff, etc. And there were lots of other players saying: just read the new player links and sort of scolding the new player for asking questions.

Later on in the day, a moderator chastised the forum for being judgmental and controlling and closed most of the threads involved. I can't find the mods' posts, but I think those two words or similar ones were used. I'm paraphrasing: she said we were all new once, and we're all entitled to help or something like that.

The new player materials are wonderfully compiled and well-organized. But it's a lot of stuff. And the search function on this forum is not that great. If a new player asks some specific questions, maybe it would benefit the forum if they were answered directly. Why don't we try to give the spam bots some competition by posting some actual discussion? :)

Also, i have some more tips for you

1) Use psychological pricing

2) for making money, i would recommend making and selling Bacon and Eggs. Its source are cheap crops, while grow some extra carrots!

3) grow indigo, great for both money and exp. i would recommend getting to lvl 18 soon, since part of the game's fun starts with socialising. Indigo sells for 250 a bundle of 10

4) when you reach lvl 15, grow apple trees ( say 5 or 10 trees), and sell the apples! Great money!


You would need all this money for docks and neighbourhood.

The forums can feel a bit overwhelming to someone new. Sometimes you have to take in a little at a time, especially with all the tips for play floating around. So, in the meantime, are new players supposed to not play until they have done all their homework? I've been playing for years, probably longer than many regular posters, and finally got around to joining the forums last year. I just recently began posting. I'm amazed how some ppl forget that there have been a lot of changes to this game, and we got to experience the changes as they happened, so no big deal to us. For those new folks, it can be a lot to take in. So, it would be nice to help point ppl in the right direction with patience, kindness, and welcome. Otherwise, they may not feel comfortable joining in the conversation.

Yeah, the search function is pretty bad. But the new people tips is very clearly organized, any question you could have that it covers is easy to find, and quicker than typing a new post too.

I think I'm about talk to about my personal understanding of forum rules, and before that happens I have do two things:

-- lift my head to the sky, close my eyes while I bravely fight back tears, and sigh: "What is my life!!?"

-- declare I will forever hold a grudge against this thread for bringing me to this low point.

I've read the forum rules. I promise. But I don't remember the bolded being a rule. It may be a rule, but I might have missed it or forgotten it. Sincerely, that's very possible.

But, if it were a rule, that might mean I'm not allowed to inquire about it. By it possibly existing as a rule -- in a stickie somewhere out there -- and therefore 'answered,' I suppose a question about it would be forbidden.

If -- and it's a big if -- there's a rule that once something is stickied we can't discuss it or ask questions about it, then I think that would be a problematic rule.

If someone posts in Hay Day General, do they have to read and grasp the stickies in other sections like the various child forums of the Neighborhood section too before they post?

If we read a stickie, do we have to read the entire thread or just the first post? Some stickied threads are dozens of pages long.

Does it mean reading only the words in the body of the stickied thread? Or do we have to follow all the links in a stickied thread and read those too?

And after all this reading, if we don't have perfect recall or understanding of what was contained in those stickies, are we not allowed to ask questions?

Pretty much every thread on the first page of the General section (except maybe two) is a retread of topics that have been posted previously. Some of them may even have been discussed in stickied threads. But I don't see a problem with conversations being revived by different people as time goes on. There's only so much to talk about in Hay Day. :D

I agree, stifling conversation is not good, but in case of OP, they blatantly refused to even attempt to look for info, and proclaimed so in their post. A clear violation of the rule.

I read your post in this thread quoting those rules, and I'd read those rules in its original thread previously.

Jerhunter, Rule #15 mandates two things:

1/ read the stickied threads

2/ post your topic in the appropriate subforum.

It doesn't forbid us from posting questions that were already answered or discussed elsewhere - even in a stickied thread. That's a stretch of an inference. I don't see support for it.

The OP may have read the sticky. But may still have questions. That's a lot of information. And like I said above: does reading a stickied thread mean we have to read everything linked in that thread too? I don't think that's a reasonable request. I haven't read every thread linked in the New People resources thread.

In this thread, I didn't know at which level the newspaper becomes available. I bet that's in a stickied thread somewhere. People have different ways of learning and absorbing information. Maybe what's written in a sticky is unclear or confusing to someone.

In a classroom, it would be like saying: if it's in the textbook, then don't ask questions about it in class or discuss in study group.

Is there a rule about hijacking someone's thread? If not there should be. I feel sorry for the new player asking questions.

New player shouldn't have opened thread in first place. All those questions were easy to find, and quicker to find than waiting for someone to tell them answers already placed in a sticky thread.

You know what? I have to agree with you. The new player tips and links are wonderful resources, but it is a lot to read. We should be here to support one another, some things that seem so obvious to us veteran players aren't for new ones. We should be a resource for them. I was on the forums last night and there wasn't a lot of activity, newer threads to read. Helping beginners will get the conversation going and maybe we can all learn something as well. Everyone has their own methods for playing, we should share them with one another.

I'm more of the type who will google specific questions first or search before asking, but not everyone is like that. Maybe if we share certain links that are relevant to the question at hand from the new people tips that would help as well. Happy farming everyone ;) :heart:

I agree, sharing links isn't a bad thing. But the OP specifically stated no links, just answers. I'm not going to look up the link myself and try to reanswer based off what's in the link. I'm going to point the link out and state where to find it. Asking for new answers on old questions is kinda pointless, don't you think?

I think it isn't so much that questions (that are answered in stickies) were asked, it's *how* they were asked. It's as if the OP is too busy/self important to do the work him/herself that rankles. Lots of folks ask these same questions but they usually come with some sort of mea culpa. I'm personally not keen on being asked for my help and then being told how to offer it. YMMV.

I guess I will jump in here and add my voice.

I agree with those who have said that people (whether a new player or not) should be allowed to ask questions and have them answered and receive suggestions, even if those answers are easily found in a stickied thread. This makes it easy for us who know about the New People Tips and other helpful threads to link, or at least advise, the one asking the question where they can find correct and helpful answers.

HOWEVER, I also agree with those who have said that if the answers are in a stickied thread, it's nice to know that the one asking the question is 1) open to being linked to where they can find that and other answers and/or 2) has noted they tried to find an answer, but were unsuccessful - or found an answer, but it still left them with questions.

As SmallChange noted, someone asking questions who blatantly states not to link them to the stickied New People Tips thread, but just give them answers, is essentially stating they can't be bothered to do any legwork of their own by looking things up themselves and just wants to rely on everyone else to do said legwork - which we (mainly Tigg) have already done by compiling the afore-mentioned stickied thread, just for cases such as this...to be as helpful as possible to new players all in one great spot!

So, like jerhunter and a few others have mentioned, it's not the questions the OP asked...they should have a right to do so...it's the manner in which they asked the questions, essentially, "You do the legwork for me...I ain't gonna do it!"

I don't know if the OP read the stickied New Player threads or not.

But I suspect he read or searched this general forum. :smirk: He knew that questions asked by new players usually only get multiple replies of "Read the sticky," while the actual questions get totally ignored. That gave me the sense that he had spent some time exploring the Hay Day section of the forum, if he knew this was customary behavior around here.


He says "please" and "thanx." He doesn't say he won't read or hasn't read some of the stickied links on his own. He's asking for answers to specific questions. So, I didn't read his post as a petulant refusal to look at those links. I saw it as a preemptive move against receiving the same sort of withholding treatment that many new players receive in this section.

Sometimes, when you're starting something new, there are a few pieces of information that seem stubbornly elusive. And once you get those key questions answered, the whole picture falls in place. As I said, people learn very differently. For a lot of people, the feeling of interactivity is really helpful to them absorbing information.

He says "please" and "thanx." He doesn't say he won't read or hasn't read some of the stickied links on his own. He's asking for answers to specific questions. Sometimes, when you're starting something new, there are a few pieces of information that seem stubbornly elusive. And once you get those key questions answered, the whole picture falls in place. I see your point...OP could have read the New People Tips thread, as well as some other bits of info floating around this forum. Unless the OP returns to this thread and says yay or nay, he read the thread, I guess we will never know for sure.

On the other hand, if it were me asking others not to link me to a helpful thread, but just to provide answers, I would have prefaced it much differently. Something like, "Please don't link me to the New People Tips. I've already perused that thread and these are some questions I still have." Makes it clear I was diligent in doing my own legwork first. :)

A few weeks ago, a new player came on the forums, asking some questions. And one veteran farmer spent several hours replying but not answering his questions and kind of toying with him. I bookmarked the mod's post for future reference to remind myself on how to treat new players when they ask questions on the forum. Here's my takeaway from Mod Tinkerbell:

"...We must remember, (especially those of us who have been forum members forever and have seen the same threads posted over and over again by new guys) that everyone has the right to post their question here, and deserve a helpful answer..."

If you're going to quote a mod, make sure it makes contextual sense. The thread with this quote speaks more to people asking for updates and complaining about the game, not new people.

Plus, if someone is going to post a thread despite there being a sticky, at least use the right sub-forum. There's a "New to Hay Day" sub forum, so new people questions shouldn't be in General, it should be in the New to Hay Day section.

Yes, that would be a lovely way to approach things. But even if players don't express themselves in the most artful way, I don't think their questions should be treated presumptively as some kind of transgression.

Bridge trolls do stuff like that. Apply purity tests... ask for the magic words.... otherwise it's: "thou shalt not pass." Sometimes, I am a bridge troll, but not most days. so I'd rather not. I don't like the uniform. :smirk:

Yes, in post #43 of the linked thread, I linked to the mod post I talked about earlier describing the treatment of a new player as "judgmental and controlling" among other things.

Hi Jerhunter, that thread really did go places. :D It started off as a reaction to a new player being treated oddly and unkindly - over the course of the day - by some Hay Day old-timers. I think we were unsure about how to discuss it, so we don't describe it directly. And because it had just happened, it felt unnecessary to recount it. So, from a distance, the thread must look quite a jumble.

If you read the first two posts of the the thread Lynn linked, you may get hints of what the thread is initially reacting to: a forum member's extended inhospitable and unkind treatment of a new player.

If you follow my link in post #43 of the thread Lynn linked, it'll take you to the moderator quote about being judgmental, controlling, bullying that I talked about earlier.

And the mod post Lynn cites is relevant to that situation and this one. The mod says that everyone has the right to post their question, and she specifically points to new players as having that right.

I envy the super-organized so much. In fact, when I observe someone with that talent for being just-so careful and super-efficient about organization, I kind of get a contact high.
