Infinte range for defensive barbarian king

So I was searching for a base to raid and i found one with a decent loot(if combined with league bonus 5stars) i could get. He had a lvl2 King. So i launched my giants near an air defence which was in the King's range. So of course my troops got attacked. NEXT IS THE BUG: The giants destroyed the air defense and moved to other defenses AWAY FROM THE PEDESTAL'S(and therefore the king's) RANGE BUT.... HE KEPT FOLLOWING MY TROOPS WITH LIKE DOUBLE DAMAGE AND MIND... HE FOLLOWED OUTSIDE HIS RANGE!!!!!!

Once royalty have locked onto a target they will follow it until it is dead.

THAT applies only for 1)Offensive royalty and
2)Defensive royalty ONLY if the targets r in the pedestal's range

And you said that the AD that the giants were attacking was within the defensive kings radius.

I was afraid of that and visited the base via my attack log. the AD was in range,yes. but.... THE GIANTS MOVED AWAY FROM THE RADIUS AFTER DESTROYING THE AD

The king will chase enemy troops even outside the range till they are dead.

Once a troop enters into king's radius, the king attacks it until it's dead. It doesn't matter if the troop goes beyond king's radius before its death. After the troop is dead, king will come back to his radius. If he finds another troop that can be attacked, he will start to do the same again.

Let say the king follow a hog completely outside of the altar range and kill it, will the king go back to the altar before chosing another target and then move again or find another target straight and start moving towards it without going to the altar?

yes. Once that one hog the king was after dies he's goes back to his little bachelor pad to defend. He won't target another troop until they come within that range.
