Kudos to Supercell and the HD Team for their Cultural Literacy

When I log in and saw the global event celebrating Chinese New Year with a boat event, I was delighted because the goal is 8,888,888 and the reward is 8 diamonds.

Eight is a lucky number in Chinese culture and Supercell is aware of its significance.

I like 8s because - to me - they look like infinity symbols that have finally stood up or adorable abstractions of fat little birds. And also because 8 diamonds are better than 5 diamonds.
