Give Good Defenders Shields
The only problem I have currently is that good defenders cannot protect their loot when they go to sleep. So if anything, they should add something more for good defenders. If you do not get attacked for 2 hours consecutively offline, you should get a shield no matter what. That's just common sense. Why would the game mechanics punish great defenders by making their collectors extremely vulnerable during the 8 hours they must sleep?
I can mathematically prove that it is disadvantageous to defend well:
Situation 1: Good Defenders that cannot get a shield because nobody will attack them
16 hours of sleep and work for a TH10 = 392,000 gold, 392,000 elixir, and 4,800 dark elixir
50% of that production is lost at night GARAUNTEED, on top of storage buildings like the TH, CC, and storages
a shield may or may not be granted because people cannot even achieve 30% destruction
maybe half the time, 50% of the production is also lost during work
collectors are easy to get to - you just barcher the base and you can pretty much get it all
Net base resource change over hours of unavailability: 147,000 gold, 147,000 elixir, and 1,800 dark elixir
In other words, you keep 37.5% of what you produced for being a good defender that defends so well nobody can get 30% destruction.
Formula for net base resource change:
N = Resource Produced - Resource Lost
N = Resource Produced - Resource lost after first raid - Resource lost after second raid
N = 392000 - 0.5*196000 - 0.5*(98000 + 196000)
392000 is the total produced gold after 16 hours for a fully upgraded collector TH10
196000 is the total produced gold after 8 hours
98000 + 196000 is the sum of the total available loot inside the collectors after the first raid took away 50% (98000) and another 8 hours of unavailability occur during work (196000)
Situation 2: Weak base (easy to 3-star with over 30% army) that instantly get a shield upon logging off
rewarded a 16-hour shield
392,000 gold, 392,000 elixir, and 4,800 dark elixir is produced
100% of the production is protected at night from a shield
Net base resource change over hours of unavailability: 392,000 gold, 392,000 elixir, and 4,800 dark elixir
In other words, you keep 100% 16 hours of produced resources for being the worst defender on Clash.
Counter-Arguments:
1) Well-defended bases tend to not lose storage resources while defenseless bases will lose almost all.
2) People are not unavailable during work and when they wake up, they tend to collect resources before work.
In conclusion, after comparing the two situations and thinking about the counter arguments, I still think good defenders are getting the shaft. Retaining 37.5% of your produced resources for defending too well and being unavailable for 16 hours compared to 100% does not look fair to me.
