One time downgrade for rushed town halls

One of the problems I have come across are people who upgraded their townhall too fast(I.e. Rushed base). When they war, they are going against higher level town halls making almost impossible to even one star. I propose a one time townhall downgrade. Yes you will lose whatever you gained from upgrading to the next level town hall but it will be beneficial in the long as you can compete against an equal level player. Also you should be refunded 60% of what you lose in upgrades by downgrading. Example, if you were to lose an Xbow by downgrading you would be refunded 60% of the cost it took to build it as well as the cost if you upgraded it to a second or third level. The refund should be place somewhere where you can't lose it by being attacked and you could use the extra loot to upgrade other items to strengthen your new downgraded base.

What about lab and hero upgrades?

I think the OP meant that in the line of: will lose whatever you gained from upgrading

However, I do not see this as very plausible.
The person is at fault for rushing, and they can wait for wars until they get things caught up, IMHO.

Poor decisions to rushed town halls ruin the game for many players.

The loot warning when upgrading is not nearly enough.

People who have made this mistake should be able to reverse it without having to restart completely.

To help discourage careless rushing, TH upgrades should cost much much more, in gold elixir and DE. TH upgrades should be the most expensive single thing at every TH level.

Sorry, I disagree. It already gets way too expensive to upgrade.
And time consuming, too.

If the player rushed, he's not forced to restart. He just needs to focus on getting the rest caught up.
If he rushed to where 3-4 TH's above, then sorry, that's on him. He really should have thought before he leaped.

I'd actually be in favor of increasing the TH upgrade cost by 30-40% per TH level. Not really to make it the most expensive upgrade, but yeah.

The cost of TH upgrade, even if it were max storage for gold elixir and DE, is still very small compared to the costs of upgrading everything else.

And in general, I disagree that upgrades are too expensive or too slow. I think the game is paced just right. Except for the temptation to rush the TH.

As long as everything was down graded to the new lower th lvl, it would be a good idea, some players see that getting a big th as some kind of status then realise what a mistake it is!!

Id personally be a huge fan of a TH downgrade, even if I had to start as a brand new TH at that level. There was no warnings really when I jumped from TH9 to TH10 a year plus ago (maybe a new feature?) and have regretted it ever since. While it's true over time you can build up the strength of a base, in the meantime Ive started a second account and have it to TH9 and almost on par with my TH10 besides for Heros and some defensive towers obviously. Part of that is better knowledge of the game the second time through but still. Just seems like a huge penalty to pay over the life of an account for a couple of bad decisions. Not being able to undo them except for starting a brand new account seems a lil rough.

I'm in favor of this. Obviously, and research or buildings you've got at the new town hall would need to be removed and/or downgraded.

This is a good idea. Or maybe the option to GEM to a lower town hall.

Lets say you start out playing Clash, and you're a noob. You rush to TH10 because you think that would be cool. At this point you have no idea that there is a 10% loot penalty for attacking 1 town hall down, and a %50 penalty for attacking 2 town halls down.

So you're a TH10 with lvl 4 troops, and now you want to war. Too late buddy, your account blows.
