Can someone please explain to me i have 1.2 mil gold and 1.6 elixer and a th9 attack me and 8 gave up 400k each and my pumps were empty at this rate why bother

I had a similar issue where my gold and elixer usually gets taken at a max of 10% of my total but each time someone attacks me, of equal or higher level no less, they manage to steal almost all of my dark elixer. I'm really beginning to get frustrated.
