"The walls of Sparta are its young men, and its borders the points of their spears."
-King Agesilaos
Just before the Battle of Thermoplyae, a Spartan warrior named Dienekes was told that the Persian archers could blank out the sun with their arrows. He replied,
"Good, then we shall have our battle in the shade."
The whole is more than the sum of its parts.
-Aristotle (ca 330 BC)
"Because fear makes each man do his best to shelter his unarmed right side with the shield of the man next to him, thinking that the closer the shields are locked together the better will he be protected."
-Thucydides on why Spartan armies edge to the right as the battle begins.
Walls and the City
Not homes with beautiful roofs,
nor walls of permanent stone,
nor canals and piers for ships
make the city — but men of strength.
Not stone and timber, nor skill
of carpenter — but men brave
who will handle sword and spear.
With these you have: city and walls.
-Alcaeus of Mytilene
Spartan poet

Experience and suffering

First time checking this thread. Glad I searched for it!
I love this clan. Sadly time zones get in the way of family life. And affects the time I can put into giving my best effort every single attack. Learned ALOT thanks to their hospitality and me asking a ton.
If you join please put in the effort to learn more. Don't waste their time if you aren't going to use GroupMe or Clash caller. There are 1000's of other clans for you to join in that case. They deserve dedication cause you get it in return. Also for arranged wars, realize that war weights is everything, so don't expect to be in scrims instantly either. Same deal there. Look somewhere else if you know you're impatient. 2 cents.
Hail the Spartans!
With love,
Grayz.

Nearing death, Agesilaus was asked if he wanted a statue erected in his honor. He declined, saying;
"If I have done anything noble, that is a sufficient memorial; if I have not, all the statues in the world will not preserve my memory."
