In the topic for the upgrade I saw that we can take it from other players so it's a new ressource like gold & elixir. I thought it was like gemms I was so sad but I hope it will be great and I hope we will not have 3 dark elixir per hours and it will need 1 milion to upgrade barbarian king & the archer queen.
✔ Build a Dark Elixir Storage on Town Hall level 7 and take the precious resource from other players
✔ Dig deeper: Dark Elixir Drills unlocked on Town Hall level 8
ummm - so you can store it at 7 but not produce it until 8 that doesn't make sense?

Yeah that's strange, with the TH7 you can only kick the ♥♥♥ off the other players to have the dark elixir ^^
Don't really see the point of th7 even messing with de storage or heroes.
At TH8 with one lvl 2 dark elixer collector, it takes 17 days to get enough to upgrade to lvl2 barbarian king, which is an absolute joke.

Too impatient - just HAD to see dark elixir so gemmed the first drill. ♥♥♥♥! It smokes like a Diesel engine. :D
Yes with 2 maxed pumps they produce 200 ph, collected means that's 1/3 so 65ish to be stolen.
Then after I steal all that dark elixer over a week from heavily protected storage, I can get to lvl 2 and gain, wait for it - 6 more hit points!!!!!

You guys need to make the production time faster..... Your basically saying "buy gems or no barbarian king and archer queen" without saying it. 41 days to get lvl 1 barb king...... Come on now. This game is supposed to be not not to spend every cent to your name on clash. Please make like actually mine like 1 hours 1k or something.
Takes too much time to max every Dark Elix pump.
Takes minimum 50 hours to buy the Barb King, assuming 2 maxed pumps and nobody stole your Dark Elix.
Takes minimum 200 hours to buy the Arch Queen, assuming 2 maxed pumps and nobody stole your DE.
I have no info about how much elix it needs to upgrade every pump, and no info about what it needs if it needs elix or dark elix.

I dont see any dark elixir listed under available loot while raiding... Or it only appears if that particular village has it?
Just noticed on some of the players that have DE storage maxed it still says the storage only has 400hp. Not Sure if it was meant to be that way or not.

Well, Supercell, you did it.
Just when I was about to get bored of waiting around for 8 days for each upgrade,
now you got me giddy as a schoolgirl waiting 22H for my dark elixir storages and drills
- I check back every hour to see if *maybe* the bar has moved a lil' faster!
This is broken, and will remain so for the monetary benefit of supercell. This is just stupid.
they didn't fix farming, resource production rates, or anything about clan management.
If they did anything they made all three worse with dark elixir and donation stats.
Does the gob AI target dark elixir like gold & elixir? If so, I need to change my base a bit.
This upgrade is just ridiculous. I can feel that my clan members are deflated and some are ready to quit. The rate of production for the new elixir was set horrendously slow and yes, you can raid for it but it just seems like a blatant attempt by supercell to get a bunch of money for gems.
I was so excited when I finally got all my walls upgraded to level 8 and now...two more levels. The only way to be a top player anymore is to either spend incredible amounts of money (literally thousands of dollars) or jailbreak and cheat.
Please at least turn up the production rate on the dark elixir. You'll still get plenty of gem buyers but it will be reasonable to play.
I have found this as some which will only make a larger gap between gemmers and those who just want to play without throwing money into it: dark elixir is produced too slowly for a raid to collect enough of it, maybe only 500 at most... And anyone with it at TH7 or 8 will be attacked all the time for it, so the only way to save it up enough to buy a hero or whatever is to use gems and buy it.. If Supercell keeps on doing this, the gap with become so large that this land of Clash of Clans will collapse and it popularity will end. Please, Supercell, you're being dumb sh*ts.
The dark elixir is pretty dumb, the only use for it is the king and queen. They could have added the "enormous troops" without dark elixir. They are pretty silly either way but the dark elixir is unnecessary.

Disappointed with the update, I'm at TH7 and seeing how I can only raid for it to get it and will be raided like crazy if I have it, I see no upside to me actually bothering to get it. Takes way to much to get the barbarian king. I'd have been happier if they fixed the match making system. I still feel players should be matched on TH lvl. Lower TH can attack up but higher can't attack down. This dark elixir just going to make higher TH lvls farming the weaker even worse.
I disagree. What they want players to do is upgrade their town halls. They have sweetened the deal quite a bit for TH lvl 8 and to a lesser extent TH lvl 9. I kinda doubt that they will succeed in getting very many players to turn into high TH lvl raiders, but I could be wrong. As for TH lvl 7 players, I doubt they will be able to get much dark elixir at all. Everyone is going to keep that stuff on lockdown, so it will be very difficult for TH lvl 7 players to farm off of stronger bases.
Anyone figure out how much (25%, capped, etc, etc) you can raid on dark elixir?

Gotta say, I agree.
Furthermore, I'd be pretty upset if I gemmed for some dark elixir, say 40k, but needed 45k (as lvl 2 queen needs), was short only 5k... went to sleep. And someone raided me for 75% of that 40k, which is 30k... leaving me with a measly 10k.
Ugh. And then, a week later, they fix this so you can't raid 75%. Lol, sort of like the person who just upgraded a barrack 8 for 30% more than what it is now...
Anyways, SC, it does strike us clearly that a 75% cap is waaaaaay too high if the Wiki info is correct. It would be great to tweak that earlier rather than later, if you agree.

I need to vent. I love this game so much but supercell you have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ me off a lot. It takes however long to upgrade these drills and storages and it take a lot of elixir!!!! THIS UPDATE WAS JUST ABOUT THE TOP PLAYERS ALL GEMS. It will take OVER A YEAR to get lvl 30 heroes. You need to raise the production rate now. I don't have $2k to spend on this game. Unlike the top players. You guys are basically said "buy gems or quit" I don't want to quit but I also don't have 2k please lower the upgrading prices (DE storages, mines) and higher then production rate please.

I know you are upset, but out of curiosity, why do you feel such a need to be maxed in everything as soon as the new update comes out? We all have time. Unless you are one of the top 3k+ troph players, you don't really need to max your heroes right away. They are so visible in the Top Player screen, but it's really misleading to think everyone is gemming so much like them.
I'm farming and my barb king is only lvl 4, and my queen is only level 1. And, not to brag, I can quite easily buy gems to boost them, but I do not see the rush. I am enjoying this... again, so long as one does see the need to rush through everything so fast.
I do think the 75% cap, as discussed, is just too high. But, I'm sure it'll work it out in the balance tweaks.

I agree with Illustris, I will enjoy the challenge of upgrading my Barb King, don't have it yet but I will soon. I'm so far having fun taking people's Dark Elixir. Besides what funn is upgrading everything at once like top players?? What to do after that??.... I love farming lol

The raids are incredibly low partially because no one has had time to fill their storages (unless they gemmed it). In fact, many players, such as myself, dont even have the stuff built because it takes a full day. Once epmany of the TH8 and 9 players get these things up and running, there should be quite a but more dark elixir to be raided.

I'm not sure if 75% is 100% accurate. I am testing this atm and I find the results to be something else. Also, there's definitely a cap. Just now, I saw a guy that had 888 DE available to loot. I went to check his base and found he had over 17,566 of DE in his storage. So you won't be robbed of 30K of DE like in your example, which is good.
I'll keep testing to see what percentage I come out with. Unfortunately, I don't have a jailbroken device so I can't just check the game files.
Dahimi, I'm sure, is scrambling. It's pretty amazing how much new content they've already added over there. But, after being pointed to the Wiki, I saw there a 10% cap for dark mines and 75% for dark storages, which is mind boggling, if true.

So I just read the wiki and it states the following:
- Dark Elixir Drill: 10% of uncollected dark elixir left in the dark elixir collector can be stolen by attackers
- Dark Elixir Storage: 75% of uncollected dark elixir left in the dark elixir storage can be stolen by attackers

However, here's what I just test. Ran into a guy with 28 DE available to loot. I immediately checked his base, I didn't raid him of course, and here's what he had available:
- Dark Elixir Drill: 38 - If we go with wiki, 4 of 38 should be available to loot
- Dark Elixir Storage: 20 - If we go with wiki, 15 of 20 should be available to loot
- Total should be 19. But it had 28 available to loot.
Can someone check my math? It's pretty late and I could just be tired...
Another thing that doesnt make much sense, to me at least, is why storages give such a high percentage relative to the drill. With gold amd regular elixir, collecters can often yield much more resources than actual storages, yet it seems to be reversed with dark elixir. Any theories on this?
I did the math on that and it comes out to be 30.5, so either 30 or 31, DE available, which is more than the observed amount. I also double checked the wiki page and it still says that 10% of collecters and 75% of storages should be available for raids. Really confused about this...

So is it true if i land a lightning spell on top of the dark elixir storage i will get 75%(or most of it) since the storage only has 400 hitpoints?
I need to further test this tomorrow, but from what I've tested so far, I believe the percentages are as follows:
- DE Storage: 5% plus 1% for each level higher
- DE Drill: 70% of uncollected, no adjustment found for higher level
Here's some raw data:

I suggest lowering the amount of elixer gained from drills and increasing the amount you can steal, so that you can make more money :D
Looking at your observed numbers and the wording in that other thread: "75% of uncollected dark elixir left in the dark elixir storage can be stolen by attackers." Which seems be rather contradictory it stands to reason that perhaps it should read :
75% of uncollected dark elixir left in dark elixir drill can be stolen by attackers. If the numbers are in fact:
75% of elixir on drills and 10% of elixir in storage then the Maths of what you observed works out assuming the time delay between your initial and follow up examination of his base allows for the collection of ~3 dark elixir. (the assumption being that the collector had only 34/35 dark elixir at the time of your attack).
I would say that this makes more sense from a development point of view anyway...
Thanks. Worst part is actually finding someone with some DE to steal. I think I've spent about 500K in gold searching targets I'm not even going to raid.
I checked TH 7&8, but doesn't seem to be any changes; I'm TH8. I haven't checked TH9 yet, but my guess is the discrepancy comes from the extra storages. I'll let you know if I find something.
What is your TH level? If you are TH9 and in sample 1 you are attacking a TH7 then you can only take 50% of normal pillage...
You should record Townhall level differences when taking your numbers because that comes into it aswell.
What was the time delay between your inspections on Sample 3? On my model it looks like about an 18 minutes?
Should be that you can loot more % from the drills and less from the storages.
Also, the HP of the storage will be increased soon.
Also at some point the overall cap will also need to come into play, if I was to hazard a guess your storage probably has a theft cap between 2000-2400, that would be inline with the rest of the game design.
Using all 4 samples:
The closest fitting model I have so far is:
75% from Drills
5% from storage's
Models even Better with your first sample, bringing everything inline within 1 tick on collectors...

Final post of the night, I swear...
Besides using DE to upgrade your heroes, what else are they good for? I was hoping they can be used to instantly heal your heroes after battle, so we can use them on more battles. But it looks like you can only instantly heal them is by using gems. That's kind of lame to me. I raided about 250 DE tonight and can't do anything with it because the lvl2 BK upgrade will cost me 12,500 DE. Of course the available DE to loot will go up as more and more people finish their drills & storages, but I still wish there was another use for them. Just my 2 cents.
400HP? Good to know that they're increasing the HP soon.
But till then, good idea to put all my lightning spells to good use...
I haven't made up my mind on it yet, but I am fairly confident that economy of scale will make Dark Elixir abundant enough to successfully gather it through attacks, it looks like the intention from the game designers is to make the higher level players more keen to risk more attacking higher level players to gain DE and in that I think it will be successful.
Gemming is ultimately irrelevant, it is a time currency that reduces the time it takes to progress in the game, however there is no element to this game, so far that I have seen than can't be progressed past without spending gems. If the overall cap for Theft of DE is below 2400 then that assertion remains true.
I think I'm not going to waste my time, energy and resources on dark elixer just yet. It will only make me a target for higher lvl players. Going to sit back and upgrade my existing base first. I probably will get the second x-bow.
the cost of upgrading hero does not sound like a big amount 10k, 12.5k etc etc. but then, i dont think there is enough dark elixer going around at the moment. even through raiding, i doubt ppl will get enough Delixer.
it will be a really tough time to upgrade your hero not to mention also upgrading your Dpump n Dstorage.
my conclusion is, those who gem, they get heroes much faster and can get it to a high level easily.
those who do not gem, tough luck to you, you cant break or beat base with heroes as you dont have heroes and it will take you donkey ages to come even close to beating them and/or having a high level hero.
i guess this game is to please those who have obtained gem and keep them interested so they will keep purchasing gems.
for those who dont gem, why do SC need to take your interest into account? you pay, u have a right to talk and have your interest fed. YOu dont pay you dont talk. i think SC is moving along these lines. Keep those paying interested and look after them. for those who dont pay you are a freeloader.
to be honest i only spend gem on a builder. but i guess i just hafta face the real truth and harshness of the reality of the game.
u gem, you get heroes, you own bases of those who dont have heroes. for those who dont have heroes and dont gem, good luck, it will take u a long long time.

SC could improve some achievement for those who doesnt wan to spend on gems....
i am currently stuck with 3 builders and having 800gem....but look like those achievement are hard for me to get 200 more for my 4th builder.as most of my achievement are already at 3stars and 2stars

I personally think that the collection rates are way to low. I am fine with having to upgrade things to get them "better" but even at max upgrade, these drills collect too slowly compared to the cost of the items using the resource (and the odds of you being raided during your saving up for them). Its far easier to grind out Level 3 Pekkas than even bother going down the "max barb king" route.
So, constructive feedback:
Dark Elixir - Good concept as an additional resource but...
PROS
- Access to new "things" and so keeps things fresh
- Something else to raid (Elixir is almost useless to a lot of high players who have maxed units and bases)
CONS
- Takes up space in an already crowded base - converting an existing elixir pump / storage would be my preference!
- Takes too long to generate - I think most non-gem players agree (??)
- Apparently low raid levels (less than 100 per fight in most cases) I appreciate this is good and bad depending on point of view
- High probability that the mega spenders will have yet another way to dominate the game meaning average players dont bother trophy hunting (coming up against max hero units before they've even saved 1,000 dark elixir) - farming anyone?
So in conclusion, Im more excited about the trophy donation counter than I am about dark elixir although we still need to know who donated what troops to us when viewing clan castle...Anyway, perhaps an update will balance stuff out if dark elixir does not take off as the devs thought
I'm more than happy with my lv1 Barb king. I will do the upgrades to my drill until raiding Dark Elixir becomes profitable and useful.
It means that when raid some one with dark elixer u will be able to store it ... Only when you get to th8 the game gives you the capability to then earn it your self from the dark elixer drill... Basically the game is giving you a head start in earning the dark elixer .... Surely that makes sense. 😝
That's the pretty side of it. But I guess their real intentions are not those... They want you to fill it up with gems. And you got to say, its a pretty good plan, cause being at lv 7, having the storage, looking at the hero everyday, and getting attacked by people who got them...

Having 75% (in the case of dark elix) vs 50% for uncollected gold/elix, if these are the numbers, seems OK to me, as one person's opinion.
5% for lootable tanked dark elix vs. 25% for collected gold/elix, again, if these are the numbers, seem OK to me.
I appreciate the thoughtfulness to spread this out:
1) there is a penalty or incentive to play frequently and tank, which seems reasonable
2) for a "valuable" resource (well, at least for us who are scrambling trying to find any to loot), it seems reasonable to lower the cap from 10% to 5%, to encourage the frenzy to find some
