Is it worth doing boats

Don't give up on us here in the forums! I know that I make assumptions when I see someone posting here with a high level farm and/or forum join date from a while back. I forget that they may have been farming independently for a long time (we have a 'hoodie who got to level 80 on her own!!) and may have racked up their forum post count in one of SC's other games.

Also, I know that I've posted things that were clear to me :facepalm::p:cool: but came across differently than what I intended. Pretty much every one of us who has been farming for a while constantly discovers new ways to do old things around the farm by reading the ideas posted here. Based on your original question, we would have assumed that you were a new farmer; your additional info gave us the chance to rethink our answers to make the thread a discussion of boating for the "wealthy" rolling-in-coins crowd. I hope the thread keeps going because I would love to get feedback to inspire me to go boating more frequently.

I 'missed the point of your post' because it was unclear (to me).

I pointed out a few pros & cons of doing boats which you instantly dismissed as irrelevant to your level & coins. Had you included more detail in your initial post, my reply would have been able to have been more appropriate to your level/coins etc. Someone with 40 forum posts asking 'if boats are worth it' is generally a lower level player who needs to make coins.

I love nothing more than a good natter over the pros & cons of something or the best way to stack townies, whatever...but it helps to know where that person is coming from. I didn't 'dismiss' you at all, I just didn't understand what it was you actually wanted to discuss.

OK.. no problems.. probably should have said what level etc I was at. Just wondered if there was a point in doing boat orders when could do more good filling others boats etc. Still think supercell could do another level above III for more diamonds? I know have plenty of coins but not been playing all that long in terms of years but circumstances mean have been playing regularly every day so caught up quickly!!

I'm level 134, beat almost all goals that game set up for me and I set up for myself. The only goals I have left are reaching max barn size and beat all my friends on boat leaderboard. So yes I do my own boats whenever possible, and fill boat helps on DD frequently. I actually enjoy the challeng boat impose even at my level, and climbing the leaderboard ladder is sorta fun :smirk:

I go 'on & off' doing boat orders and I send plenty away without a second thought.

If I do do them I flag all 4 crates for anyone wanting BP or XP. It's very rare I flag a crate I can't fill if I have to though and I don't flag crates I wouldn't fill for others (feathers, feta, fish, lobster etc unless it's only 1 or 2 of the item and I would fill it for someone else myself). I try not to make my NH crate always 'the easy crate' but at the same time the others are a lower level than me and there are still things they can't make.

I think the only benefit to me of doing my own boats is the vouchers. I have all the pets now, but I like to keep tucking the vouchers away for any new pets SC brings in or that one amazing deco item you can only buy with vouchers...or for the day I suddenly care about filling my fishing book ;).

I don't care about the Boat Leaderboard, which is lucky as tomville is one of my friends and I've got less than NO chance of ever gettng above her score ;)

I don't do boats very often, but it is worth doing them if you can!

Not Speaking for myself, a lot of high level players here offer good tips to low level farms!
I see a lot of what I deem to be "inaccurate" info from low levels. I suppose they are trying to assist & suggesting everyone do things their way. Of course it's all subjective. Most people wish to level up as this is a very boring game at lower levels.
Get busy on your boat!

Once I got my boat achievements I stopped bothering with boats unless there is a global event for a special prize. I happily fill crates for others, actively going through the DD to do so. By my reckoning, getting anywhere on the leader board would be a major undertaking, involving real money, something I am not prepared to do. I recommend you only do boats if you like that aspect of the game. My favourite part is the town and I am sure you have an idea of what parts of the game you like at your level. Happy farming :)

It's been a while since I've posted here so, Hello everyone!! I thought this question interesting because I used to Never do boats and, in fact, I asked almost the very same question a short time after I finally and accidentally opened my boat dock! I am now at the level I have dreaded and feared since I realized there's pretty much nothing more new to look forward to- level 76. It's still very sad, but the boats, for me, are one of the only things that keep my spirits high in hay day. All week I prepare for them and cram my barn pack full with product. I'm in a NH of one (it's just me), and I'm surprisingly still in the top 3 of the Champions league. I've taken the advice of fellow forumers to find and create goals for yourself that'll keep the game interesting, so the boats are the main thing for me-- I've never really liked the town, and I only occasionally do a truck order. And so for the derby my goal is to get that final champions League achievement. Gonna be a while since we're not even at the 2nd one yet! Aside from harvesting and production tasks, the boats are what I do, and not just during the derby either. I very, very rarely flag crates for help- my goal and challenge I've created for myself are to be able to make and store all the products needed myself. If I can't complete a boat myself I won't do it and I'll just send it off. Also on the advice of fellow forumers, I don't do sugar/dairy boats either. The sauces I usually do. However today a person on my "friends" list who has been there since day one had a flag for 12 brown sugar. Figuring I wasn't doing much right now I would go ahead and help. I've also sworn off bread boats unless I, for some reason, have an insane amount of bread in my barn, buy I usually don't nowadays. This is because I want to be able to fill the boat and send it off right away, no waiting. When I'm done with the derby I will take my time, but by then my barn is already filling up again with other products. Anyway enough rambling I'm so sorry! The boats are an additional challenge for me, which I need to stay as interested in the game as I was in the beginning! :)
